CONYERS—Oakhurst Medical Center is inviting the community to tour its new medical facility, View Point Health, a joint venture in Conyers. The facility is having an open house on Friday, Jan. 18, 11 a.m., 977 Taylor St.

View Point Health, is one of 27 agencies created by the state of Georgia to provide a safety net of care for behavioral health and developmental disabilities. The facility provides individual and group counseling, medication management, recovery and crisis stabilization services.

 

“We want the Conyers community to know that we are here to serve them and to provide an integrated approach to behavioral health and primary care services,” said Oakhurst Outreach Coordinator Janice Morris. “This is a collaborative effort to provide a person-centered holistic approach to healthcare. We invite you to come tour our facility and enjoy light refreshments as we celebrate this momentous occasion.”

 

Oakhurst Medical has provided medical services to residents lacking health insurance since 1981. Oakhurst also operates health centers on Candler Road and at Covington and Memorial Drive in Decatur. The facilities provide services to more than 14,000 adults and children annually.

 

Oakhurst is one of 171 community health centers that received $728 million for 398 renovation and building projects from the Affordable Care Act in May of 2012.

 

The grants are helping build and expand health centers, create jobs, and expand access to an additional 860,000 patients. This summer, the medical group opened a new health center and administrative complex on Memorial Drive.

 

Oakhurst’s health care services are provided on a sliding scale fee if you do not have insurance. Services include; Adult Medicine/Family Medical, Pediatric/Adolescent Health, Women’s Health, OB/GYN, Family Planning and Behavioral Health.

Beyond healthcare services, the Conyers location will provide Path to Wellness Education classes and other programs including one for Hypertension Management, Diabetes Management and Prescription Assistance.
