ATLANTA—Senator Emanuel Jones (D-Decatur) and Lt. Governor Casey Cagle welcomed Rev. Claire Yoder of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Ellenwood to serve as the Chaplain of the Day on Thursday in the State Senate.

“It was an honor to welcome Rev. Claire Yoder to the State Senate this morning. Her dedication to serve both the local and global communities is an inspiration to us all‹especially as we prepare to focus on our National Day of Service in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King,” said Sen. Jones.

Cagle commended Rev. Yoder for her inspiring lawmakers today.

“The tradition of the Senate to begin each day with a devotional and prayer allows us to set our mind and heart in the right direction as we make important policy decisions," Cagle said. "As we face daunting challenges during this session, I¹m confident that the Senate will answer the call to serve.  On Thursday, Rev. Yoder encouraged Senators and inspired each of us to lead our state in the right direction," Lt. Governor Casey Cagle said.

Rev. Yoda is from Griffin, GA. She has traveled extensively within Georgia and across the United States for both evangelistic and tourism purposes. She leads her congregation in supporting mission trips to Honduras, Mexico Missions for eyeglasses and orthopedic aids, the community food bank Joseph’s Pantry, UMCOR Clean-Up Buckets, Military Gift Boxes, Relay for Life and other causes.
