CONYERS--The Rockdale County Sheriff's Office is wrapping up a 24-hour warrant roundup that began on Tuesday afternoon. The roundup led to the arrests of several suspects with active warrants.

While the Sheriff's Office does seek out suspects with warrants on a daily basis, this more concentrated effort teamed up deputies from various divisions within the Sheriff's Office to more effectively locate and arrest the suspects.

In total, 23 suspects were arrested in the 24-hour period.

Most of the warrants were for Failure to Appear and Probation Violation, some of which stemmed from original felony charges.

"This is just the first of many warrant roundups as part of a new effort by the Rockdale County Sheriff's Office to get criminals off the streets," said Sheriff Eric Levett.

The public is encouraged to let the Sheriff's Office know about the whereabouts of anyone who has an active warrant in Rockdale County by calling Captain Mike Ransom with the Warrants and Civil Division at 770-278-8005 or by submitting the information through www.rockdalesheriff.com under the "Contact Us" section.
