DeKalb County’s young at heart joined county health officials at the Lou Walker Senior Center in Lithonia on March 7.
Health officials were on hand to host "Let’s Move DeKalb, Seniors: Picture DeKalb Healthy,” a health fair that included a healthy soul food cooking demonstration, information, breakfast and lunch, and a live performance from “2UNES and the UEB Band.
“Our seniors are critical. They are the ambassadors of their families and the community. We are depending on them to go out and spread the word about healthy living,” said S. Elizabeth Ford, director of DeKalb County’s Board of Health. “Many of the seniors here today are living examples of the benefits of eating healthy.”
Today’s event marked the seventh year that DeKalb has hosted the health event for seniors.
