DeKalb County Superior Court Judge Cynthia Becker on Monday (July 16) sentenced a DeKalb County man to three concurrent life sentences without the possibility of parole for a 2009 triple murder.
Ronald Clemons, 27, pleaded guilty to multiple counts of malice murder and felony murder on July 16. “The malicious acts of one man claimed the lives of three individuals. Hopefully, this sentence will help the victims’ families continue to heal from their tragic loss,” said District Attorney Robert James. The incident leading to the death of three victims erupted after a heated game of dominos in a Decatur residence on Sept. 21, 2009.
Clemons stated that he would “light the place up” when he initially left the location. “After a heated exchange with various individuals, Clemons returned to the home and shot and killed Michael Thomas (56 years old), Grover Strickland (39 years old), and Janiyah Daniels (3 years old) with a semi-automatic weapon. He also shot and wounded Vickie Tucker during the incident,” added James. “Clemons will spend the rest of his life behind bars for his reckless and senseless acts of violence.” |
