Volunteers needed for Rockdale's Great American Cleanup

SW citizens cleaning up Small

Keep Conyers-Rockdale Beautiful announces the return of the Great American Cleanup on Saturday, May 3, 9 a.m. 1 p.m., at Pine Log Park Pavilion, 1500 Ga. Highway 138, Conyers.

The event, hosted in partnership with the City of Conyers and Rockdale County government, encourages citizens to pick up garbage, tires and other debris around the community, and teaches youth about the importance of litter prevention and recycling.

Civic and neighborhood groups, businesses, churches, youth groups, and individuals are invited to participate in the cleanup. Garbage bags, gloves and brightly-colored safety vests for the cleanup will be provided at the park's pavilion beginning at 9 a.m. on the day of the cleanup.

Through public-private partnerships and strategic alliances with citizens, businesses and government, KCRB's efforts each year motivate hundreds of volunteers to clean up, beautify and improve Conyers-Rockdale, thereby creating safer, more livable environments. Last year, more than 300 volunteers participated in GAC by sprucing up local roadways, subdivisions, commercial properties, parks, schools, and illegal dumpsites across Rockdale.

Volunteers will also receive free food and a T-shirt while supplies last. Volunteer registration forms are available online at www.rockdalecounty.org.
