The Rockdale Democratic Party recently honored eight individuals who completed its Blue Rockdale Academy, a series of free, one-hour workshops designed to train individuals to work on campaigns and assist with the elections process.

“We began offering the workshops in February so that candidates and future candidates running for office would have a solid training ground for running a campaign,” said RJ Hadley, who developed the course for the Party. “It’s really been a good experience. They have done close to six hours training.”

Hadley said utilizing the Party’s headquarters to present the workshops was ideal. The Party, he said, envisioned the space as one not only for its regular meetings but one that would provide various community gatherings for educational purposes.

The graduates of the Blue Academy were Lewis Carr, Tommy Plummer, Roslyn Ridgeway, Andrea Snow, Susan Tancraitor, Eric Washington, Queen Washington and Doreen Williams, who is running for the Rockdale County Board of Commissioners, Post 2.
