With 200, 216 votes or 68.78 percent of the total 291,088 votes, Doreen Carter experienced an overwhelming victory over Gerald Beckum to represent the Democratic Party in the race for Georgia Secretary of State.

Beckum lost the race with 90,872 or 31.22 percent of the vote.
