Add Seed Day set in Decatur

DeKalb County Public Library and the Gatekeepers Vegan Soup Kitchen have partnered to host "Add Seed Day" on Saturday, July 12, 12 - 4 p.m. at the central library location, 215 Sycamore St., Decatur.

Organizers say the primary focus of "Add Seed Day" is to educate the community on better eating options and growing alternatives as well as collaboration with people interested in sustainability.

The program kicks off with a viewing of the documentary film, "Growing Cities." It examines the role of urban farming in America. Following the film, is a panel discussion and tasting featuring some of our favorite Atlanta urban farmers, vegan bakers, raw food chefs and juicing specialists.

Representatives from Sevananda, Atlanta’s own local natural foods supermarket, will also discuss their community co-op program.  Featured panelists include Arden’s Garden Juice Company, Seeds Global, urban farmer Ras Kofi and the Gatekeepers Vegan Soup Kitchen and Pantry.
