Hartsfield airport now a free “hot spot” for travelers

Free Wi-Fi is now available at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

Hartsfield-Jackson’s Wi-Fi connects laptop computers, Android-platform tablets/smart phones, any Apple Wi-Fi enabled device and all other Wi-Fi wireless devices to the Internet.

Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed says the airport has become a huge “hot spot,” allowing access wireless Internet service from virtually any point, including the typically hard-to-reach transportation mall under the concourses.

“Free Wi-Fi has been a top priority for the City of Atlanta and I am pleased that we are now able to offer this important benefit to our customers at the world’s busiest and most efficient airport,” said Mayor Reed.

Hartsfield-Jackson manages its own Wi-Fi system. When users power on their Internet-ready device, the airport’s Wi-Fi network (SSID ATL Free Wi-Fi) communicates with it, resulting in the display of a splash page that contains the information needed to connect to ATL’s complimentary Wi-Fi service.
