Dionne McGee, a candidate for State Court Judge, will host a reception and election party on (Thursday) Feb. 23, 5 - 7:30 p.m. at Carpe Diem, 105 Sycamore Place, Decatur. McGee was born in 1974, and has been a resident of DeKalb County her entire life. She is married her husband Kevin of 10 years. They are blessed to have two beautiful girls: Kayla Imani and Amaya Ariel. McGee began her legal career as an intern at the Fulton County District Attorney’'s Office in the Major Narcotics Unit and the White Collar Crime Unit.
After passing the bar, McGee began her work in prosecution as an assistant solicitor-general in the City of Atlanta. She took a brief hiatus from prosecution in 2005 and was hired as the director of legal services for the State Personnel Administration. She was later promoted to assistant commissioner. In this role, McGee supervised a team of human resource professionals, negotiated and drafted contracts and served as a legislative liaison for the agency. McGee currently serves as a senior assistant solicitor-general in DeKalb where she prosecutes misdemeanor crimes that are filed in the State Court of DeKalb County. She has prosecuted thousands of criminal cases including complex driving under the influence (DUI), vehicular homicide, and domestic violence cases. McGee has served as a trial evidence coach at the Atlanta Police Academy, and a guest instructor at the DeKalb Police Academy. |
