DECATUR—Anthony Eugene Johnson, 36, was sentenced to 12 years for a wreck on Highway 78 that claimed the life of his 15-year-old daughter, Corliss Johnson.
Anthony Johnson, who will serve 7 years in prison and the remainder of his sentence on probation, was driving drunk on June 3, 2012 when his Chrysler Pacifica SUV swerved off the roadway and struck a tree. Corliss Johnson died at the scene. His other daughter, Joi Johnson, suffered serious injuries. His two sons were not injured. "This is a very difficult situation for the entire Johnson family. While this sentence does not bring Corliss back, it does hold her father accountable for his reckless act of driving under the influence while transporting his young kids,” said DeKalb County District Attorney Robert James.
Johnson was sentenced by Superior Court Judge Gail Flake.
