| Wife arrested for false statements in murder case |
Pamela Lelieth Ballin, the wife of the 53-year-old landscaper Derrick “Ricky” Ballin, was arrested Jan. 24 for making false statements to police in the home invasion murder case involving her husband. Ricky Ballin was so severely beaten in the couple’s Lithonia home during the Dec. 29 attack that he died at Grady Hospital shortly after the attack.
Pamela Ballin, 48, posted a $5,000 bond and was released from the DeKalb County Jail on Jan. 27, She reportedly told police that she had locked herself upstairs in a bathroom while her husband was being attacked downstairs in their home on Tunbridge Wells Road. She said she heard a commotion. DeKalb police have remained tight-lipped about the case. Investigators will not say what Pamela Ballin told them that was untrue, or what the motive for her husband’s attack may have been. Police have not said that Pamela Ballin is a suspect in the case, or if anything was taken during the attack. “All we can say at this time is that it is an active case that is still under investigation,” DeKalb Police spokesperson Mekka Parish said. Ballin, who was Jamaican, has been described by many who knew him as a practical and honest businessman who owned At Your Service Lawn Care & Landscaping. His death shocked the Jamaican community. |
