American Red Cross honors New Birth with two awards
New Birth Missionary Baptist Church and Senior Pastor, Bishop Eddie L. Long, were honored by the American Red Cross at its 9th annual Minority Recruitment Luncheon for the Southern blood services region in Atlanta.

New Birth Church won the “Critical Day Partner Award” because of its commitment to host blood drives during the most critical times of the year for the Red Cross. The second award New Birth received was for the “largest number of pints collected by a faith based organization.”

“We treasure the awards that we received from the American Red Cross.” said Bishop Eddie Long. “We understand the importance of giving and will continue to promote blood donations as we host other events where people can give the gift of life.”

Bishop Long was among the 223 people who participated in the blood drive at New Birth Church for the 2009 Easter Service donation. The amount of blood collected during the holiday drive at New Birth, translated into 669 lives saved.
