Atlanta Technical College’s president lauded among ‘Women of Influence’
Atlanta Technical College President Alvetta Peterman Thomas has been named one of the Atlanta Business League’s (ABL) “Women of Influence” for 2010.

Dr. Alvetta Thomas

The ABL honored Thomas at its Feb. 23 Fifteenth Annual Women of Vision Breakfast for her work in increasing the number of highly-qualified, work-ready graduates in the city. Under Thomas’ leadership, Atlanta Technical College has reached new heights with a 98 percent job placement rate, an increase in college enrollment of more than 40 percent, and the development of the Atlanta Technical College Institute for Males, which was designed to increase the recruitment, retention, and graduation rates of African-American males.

Later this year, the college will open a $14.2 million Allied Health and Technology Complex that is expected to further boost enrollment and position Atlanta Technical College as a leader in health-focused education.
